I can’t exactly remember the exact moment I discovered the “Cat Eye” eyeliner technique – but I do recall endless hours in my college dorm room, crouched in front of a mirror trying to perfect it. I’ve been an advocate (aka addicted) ever since. The cat eye dates as far back as the ancient Egyptian era, where there is evidence that noble women, like Cleopatra and Nefertiti, lined their eyes with kohl to mimic the slanted eyes of cats and protect their eyes from damage by the sun. The technique has continued to evolve over the decades – from 1940s pin-up, the invention of liquid liner in the 50s, bold graphic lines of the 60s, and the darker punk look of the 80s. Today the options are endless. Pop colors, bold geometric lines, double wings, etc. The secret to the cat eye’s standing power is that it’s the easiest way to enhance your eyes, making them appear wider, your lashes thicker, all while adding just the right amount of allure. I has always been my go-to bare minimum make-up secret and is a simple way to quickly dress up your look/face. Practice makes perfect with this look – so #GetInspired and get in front of a mirror and TRY IT! 😉
